12/09/2013 - jobs in the arts

In the performing arts sector there is a wide range of job opportunities which all contribute to the arts being what it is. Looking on www.artsjobs.org.uk I found some job roles that I didn't know about and found very interesting to read about.
Theatre practitioner, description: the chosen practitioner will co-ordinate a range of opportunities for young people to develop their theatre skills and knowledge of their local heritage.
Some of the aims of the project set by the employers are:

  • development of a drama performance for a community of young people
  • increased participation of young people in cultural activity
  • providing accessible, positive and high quality arts experience 
Theatre designer assistant, description: taking on a great range of tasks, such as model-making and sourcing costumes, assisting with set building, prop making and get-ins. 

Technician and facilities manager, description: this position requires an enthusiastic individual with extensive experience in all aspects of technical theatre with the ability to manage events and maintain facilities within a vibrant arts venue.
